 St. Michael's Printshop
is a non-profit lithography, intaglio and relief print studio which provides
professional fine art printmaking facilities for established artists, emerging
artists and students of fine arts programs.From its inception in 1972, St. Michael's reputation as a nexus for printers and printmaking in Newfoundland has spread, attracting artists from around the world. Today, it is recognized as one of the country's premier visual arts establishments through which a forceful exploration of the physical and spiritual landscape continues to take place. The mythology and atmosphere of St. Michael's Printshop contribute in a subtle yet potent way to inspire superb printmaking. There is little immunity from the forces of nature here. In Newfoundland, weather and seasons conspire, maintaining a state of continuous change and renewal - and a permanent hold on one's consciousness. It cannot be taken for granted. The landscape has been described as awe inspiring, extraordinary, breathtaking and inextricably linked to the development of St. Michael's Printshop. |
