| Born in Ukraine, Serguei Tchepournov begain
playing violin at age seven. his acdemic background includes fifteen years
of training in music performance at schools such as the Donetsk Music
Institute, Donetsk School of Music, and Kramatorsk Music School. In the
Western education system his background is the equivalent of a Master's
degree. As a music teacher Sergeui has twenty-five years teaching
experience in music institutes and schools. Serguei has played with the Moscow Chamber Orchestra, Moscow Raido-TV Symphony Orchestra, Opera Symphony Orchestra and a variety of Russian pop and rock music groups and famous singers such as Senchina, Shulzenako, Kobzon, Zaharov, "Red Poppies", "Russian Song" and has recored fifteen albums with pop/rock musicians and chamber orchestras. He has extensively toured the USSR and Eastern Europe with a number og groups and artists and has participated in international music festivals in Berlin, Warsaw, Budapest, Prague, Bucharest, Sofia, Belgrade, Zurich, Geneva. As a Canadian citizen, residing in St. Johns, Newfoundland, Serquei remained active both on stage and in the recording studio as a soloist, as a composer, member of the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, and as a music teacher. He has toured Canada with Canadian artists such as Pamela Morgan and Newfoundland Chamber Orchestra, and has recored four albums with Phyllis Morrisey, Pamela Morgan, and Kathy Phippard. In November 1998 Serduei Tchepournov released a CD of original compositions entitled Gypsy Spirit containing over 63 minutes of Russian Gypsy-style music. Serquei explores deep emotions through his compositions. His synthesis of Gypsy and classical themes is engaging and provocative, a fresh sound from two very old traditions of music. The beautiful melodies will haunt you. Sergeui also has a second career as a Bio-Energetic Therapist (spiritual healer) and is currently practing at The Wellness Centre, St. Johns, Newfoundland. |
