This is my first solo CD. The whole idea behind it was to let the
listeners pretend they were spending the night with gypsies. They came in
the quiet of the night with horses and caravans and stopped for a night
after a long journey. They are tired. Thirst and hunger are always with
them, but they are happy and vibrant because they are fully independent
and spiritually free - children of the earth.
They spend the whole night dancing under the stars around the fire to the sound of violins, for they express themselves through sound and movement. In these expressions, their whole life is revealed - sorrow, hope, happiness, joy and with passion. Each piece of music has its own story and philosophical memory. My own feelings are reflected in the emotions of this music because I have experienced them throughout my life. I composed the music for this CD except "Chekorlia" in two months of the summer in 1997, and "My Mother's Song", which I composed when I was 15 years old. |
