Ten Historic Towns Hillside (Fogo)

[Hillside: Image] "Hillside" was built by Henry Earle as his own residence in 1907. Later it was made over into a double house for the accommodation of two of the family working in the firm. The addition of the narrow but attractive pair of pedimented doorways as well as internal partitions effected the change. "Hillside" served as the farm to the Earles of Fogo, the east field being the cow pasture, the west field the vegetable garden. The small building with three entrances at the back of the east field once held a wash house, cook house and hen house.
