A WEALTH OF RICHES
Canada's National Parks help strengthen a shared sense of Canadian identity,
which respects the diversity of its land and its people. In celebration of
Canada's rich heritage, Terra Nova was officially set aside as a National
Park in 1957. Parks Canada invites you to explore this National Park and
the many National Historic Sites in Eastern Newfoundland.
The park staff invites you to join them in becoming actively involved in
development issues that affect the Greater Park Ecosystem. We can work
together to ensure that Terra Nova remains one of Canada's special places.
The Province of Newfoundland has also set aside ecological reserves and
parks in recognition of our diverse land and its heritage significance.
Archaeologists at Burnside are unravelling the history of the prehistoric
people that lived in the area as long as 5000 years ago. The Salvage
museum preserves the rich European history of the area dating back to the 1600's.
A wide variety of attractions and services are offered in the local area
including accommodation, grocery and craft shops.
